About The Event
Facilitated by David Harold (he/him)
Peaceable Arts is a body mind spirit practice distilled from Taiji, Qigong, and other wisdom traditions. We practice to embody peace in ourselves, radiate it into our relationships, and skillfully build a more peaceable world. Paradoxically, this often involves wisdom from the martial traditions, seen through a peacebuilding lens.
This 1/2 day workshop will cover the foundational thinking and practices in Peaceable Arts: how to build and embody peace within ourselves, our relationships, communities and the larger society. The foundational practices are inspired by Taijiquan, but the primary focus is changed from building martial ability to nurturing peace. Practices include individual movement and meditation, working cooperatively with a partner, and guided group discussion. All practice is non-competitive and suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Please pace yourself as we will cover a lot in one day. Come play with us in building a friendlier world.
Weather permitting, we will be practicing outside part of the time. Please wear comfortable seasonally appropriate clothing. These practices are suitable for all ages and levels of fitness. Please pace yourself and feel free to sit if needed. Some practice will be done with a partner. We ask that you mask when doing close quarters partner work.
