I am Jonathan Halsey, and I use he/him/his pronouns. I am a white, cisgender, middle-aged man, who is also middle-class and able-bodied – all of which enabled me to receive the educational, economic, and social advantages associated with white privilege. I have worked in philanthropy and the nonprofit sector since 2004. My journey as an active, anti-racist began in 2008 after receiving training from the Institute for Dismantling Racism, and this hard work continues and will always continue.

I live with my rescue dog, Mamie, on land that initially belonged to Iroquoian- and Siouan-speaking peoples. I am a 1 on the Enneagram and an INTJ on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. I am a child of God, and I am inspired by the teachings and parables of Jesus Christ. I enjoy music, reading, travel, exercise, the outdoors, and conversations about personal growth, spirituality, religion, leadership, natural resource conservation, and community/economic development. I am a seeker and an old soul, and I readily admit an unhealthy passion for the artistic work of Mary Chapin Carpenter and Wendell Berry.
